Sunday, December 28, 2008 @ so am i going to have ppl watching my monthly cycle??
heh. i've been neglecting my blog again. and no, i'm not updating because i have another bout of cramps. i'll go crazy if i have them that often.

so xmas was as sucky as ever. it was only on the one off chance that i got to escape singapore altogether last xmas. not that i hate christmas, just that it holds no meaning for me and i never was fooled by the santa existence crap. how kids actually believe that stuff stumps me.

anyway, christmas is sort of like chinese new year. absolute torture. the way you're being herded off to some hell hole to be interrogated by annoyingly ignorant relatives. i'm certain that some, if not most of you would understand exactly what i mean. haha.

they seem to be so interested in what's going on in my boring life, grilling me and telling grandmother stories to my vacant, spaced out face. obviously i cant escape them without being rude. the worst thing is, the whole interrogation thing repeats itself all over again year after year. better still, now that i'm doing tertiary studies, i am very sure the boyfriend question is lurking somewhere just beneath the surface waiting to burst through this coming CNY.

but it's not so bad with CNY, cos, well, there's the money in those red packets after all. but i can't say the same for christmas, when people think you're too old for presents. but even if they don't think that way, more often than not, you wind up with gifts that are impractical. or maybe it's because i don't believe in Santa that i don't get the nice presents. *rolls eyes*

then there's the food. never has been a problem in the past, back when i was wayyyy underweight and everyone was envious. i didn't understand why at that time, why everyone wanted to be as hideously skinny as me, but of course i do now. hey i'm a singaporean, and WE LIVE TO EAT. it's cruel to have delicacies laid in front of you and you know you can't have them because you're already bulging in all the wrong places. ah, the unhealthy pressures of the media, you might say. but that's another topic altogether. it just feels uncomfortable with all the deposits of fat accumulating everywhere ok. trust me, i've been there, and... i AM still there. woops.

urgh. really hard to resist, when i'm already so used to being underweight and stuffing myself so i could get into the 'normal' BMI category. now that the horrible puberty is over and i've stopped growing vertically, i have nowhere to grow but sideways. hmm. i really should tape my mouth and go jogging or something.

then there are the kids. piercing screams, non-stop chasing around the crammed flat, sweaty hands pushing at people's legs as they weave through, crying, and gosh, the tantrums. or sometimes when you get too friendly and they think you're a nice person, they stick to you like glue. i learnt that lesson, so now i simply have to not smile when they see me. apparently i look like i'm about to beat someone up when i don't smile. this actually comes in useful when there are kids around! how delightful. muhahaha.

ok enough about archaic festivals. so the new year is coming around, and i'm not looking forward. the whole academic year just feels like i've been taken hostage in a car, and that car is speeding towards another hell hole of mine. the road is not a highway though, there are a few turns along the way. i'm thankful for those turns, it slows things down a bit. name of those turns? Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year. after the car is done with the turns, it's a straight road down to Singapore Expo(exams are held there) with no speed limit.

interesting analogy, isn't it? haha. alright, there's no need to gag. your keyboard is already as filthy as it is without the puke, what with all the eating in front of your computers thing.

last thing. the twilight movie does no justice to the book. it just doesn't carry as much emotion as it should as described in the book lah. someone warned me not to get jealous when i watch the movie, and it was hard to even try to be jealous of the couple. haha. so, either the acting was bad, or i'm insensitive. the latter can't be true, cos i AM jealous of what is in the book. ah well. yet another sucky adaptation of a hugely popular saga.

okay this has been a long post! i'm getting back to my twilight saga. planning to ditch my studies for the moment, finish the series before the new year, and then get back on track. i hope my car doesn't swerve so much i get thrown off course and not return in time for that last turn. i'm less immune to this whole twilight thing than i thought i would be. haha. not as crazy as i am with harry potter, but still guilty as charged. heh. my sis is obsessive though. the way she treats the books puts the way i treat my westlife stuff to shame. you know how obsessive i get, right? well, she's worse. imagine that. she watches like a hawk when i'm reading, man!!

alright then. till my next cramp... =p
